The work of Anjeliek Blaauw
Anjeliek Blaauw paints in a transparant way on acrylic sheets. Because she uses both sides of the sheet the paintings are very spatial. Finally she chooses one side: the frontside is hanged a little bit out of the wall. In this way the light can get through and the work keeps its transparancy.
The theme’s in her three-dimensional work such as privacy, intimity and landscape return in her paintings in an other abstract language of shapes.
Anjeliek Blaauw moved 1,5 years ago to the countryside. The influences of the surrounding scenery landscape are visable in her paintings. She is inspired by the ever changing landscape:
A diffuse world caused by mist, silence. An orange glow over the landscape.
Open spaces enclosed by dark edges of the wood, areas of tension between heaviness and light.

The work of Jantien Kahn
Jantien Kahn is a sculptor in stone. Since her childhood she has a strong affinity with stone. Modelling was important for her development of looking and thinking in 3 dimensions. More than that, however, in ‘modelling by omitting’ talent and passion join together. Her work is characterised by precision and refinement in shape and finishing touch.
Kahns sculptures evoke tension in the perception; the combination of sharpness, sturdyness and softness.
The finishing of the surface highly defines the atmosphere of the sculpture and together with that ‘the story that it is telling‘. Glossy polished, velvety sanded or with chisel structure; it is a choice carefully made by her every time again.
Besides movement and balance are evident elements in her work. Many sculptures just have a very small point of contact with the ground and many of them can move. In this way Kahn seems constantly to facilitate a playful interaction between the weight of the material at one hand and at the other hand rising up above gravity.
Transformation is a central theme in the work of Jantien Kahn. Related subjects and sources of inspiration for her are: parting, lost, growth and fertility.
